Animal Research & Environmental Study trips are unique wildlife photographic experiences with a mission. Unlike most safari expeditions, the guides of ARES are field experienced photographers and videographers that understand important photographic concepts like vehicle positioning, lighting angles, image composition and patience. All key to getting that perfect image. Every ARES trip also has onboard a master tracker and ethologist specializing in large predator behaviours. Because of our guides in-depth knowledge of animal behaviour, and many years of experience within the national parks of southern Africa, your chances are greatly increased to have excellent opportunities to photograph exciting (and sometimes hard to locate) apex predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and even the highly endangered wild dog. Of course throughout your African journey you will have plenty of photographic encounters with elephants, zebra, giraffe and other African fauna. If you are a bird enthusiast, ARES trips are an excellent opportunity for you to expand your life list of bird sightings.
